The Evil Professor Y

This is the follow up compilation to The Mysterious Projekt X (read the review here) and again does not fail to impress. You can never be disappointed with the range of sounds on these records, if you think about the title, any genre ideas made will be included in, of course, a seamless fashion. This LP is filled with hidden gems and Factory Fast Records deserve so much praise for bringing this music to light. It also features one of our previously review tracks from The Everglows, read our review of 'Amanita' here.

The album opens gracefully with 'Aliens in Woodstock' by Creeping Volt Club, a song focused almost entirely on melodies which create an almost groovy and cool atmosphere thats simply heaven to absorb. The second track, 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' from The Harrison Brothers, leaks reminders of Austin Powers and his vibrant 60's era. The song itself isn't boasting obvious 60's DNA but its there, those fuzzy, faded guitars and organ like keyboard notes all allude to a 60's inspiration.
'Fire `n' Fear' from The Poulsons takes you off your feet with their brooding electronic infused rock sound. Its deep and layered, no matter how many times I listen to it I can still find different bits that I didn't notice before. The Love Buzzards with 'Dungeon Party' turns the album to a brilliantly raucous track. There's rough vocals, dangerous guitars and a glorious beat, what's not to love?

'Untouchable' by Alpha State of Mind sends prickles down your spine with its immense intro. The good feelings don't end there, the song continues to emulate magnificence through its powerful vocals and unsteady beat. Concluding the album with an awe inspiring darkness is 'Feed the Machine' by The Windsor Project. The track is the heaviest on the LP and resonates deep within as it's pace quickens and slows with a deft prowess.

The album will be available in two days on the 10th of March on all good online retailers or pre-order it here.

January: A Month in Review

Wow. I think I need a lie down.

It is safe to say that January has been a big month for Mytacism Music and I would just like to take the time to thank all our readers for your support, it means a lot. While we have worked hard to constantly produce new bits and bobs for you to read, you have all worked hard to take time and read about the new and unsigned bands that are making us feel hot, and to say that that makes us happy is a huge understatement.
To put it all into perspective for you, we have gained a Twitter following of over 1,000, reached a total of 4,000 page views and everyday this month we have had at least 50 views. And, while that may not seem a lot to you, it is to us. Especially in comparison  to what we were getting so thank you.
So, before you get bored of our love, we would like to show off about some of the bands you liked the most and the bands that we loved.

Some of our most viewed posts this month included the likes of ECMO, Marco Mestichella and Rubber Clown Car but we have compiled the top 5 posts you seem to love.

5. The Everglows: Do they every want to take a break? It seems not as they were featured in our '2014' post as well. Lucky for us the boys have released another mod inspired tune to fall in love with.

4. Claudia Heidegger: Her appearance in this post is not surprising at all. Her beautiful folk/acoustic melodies are hard not to fall in love with.

3. Rigged & Wired: The best rock compilation I have heard in just about forever. Filled with bands such as Katalina Kicks and Pacers it is filled with talent and killer tunes.
2. The Updraft Imperative: These Christian rockers have brought grooves and desirable sounds to the world without throwing their faith at you, making it a brilliant album regardless of your beliefs.
1. Quiet As A Mouse: The presence of these Scottish lovelies is no shock as when you take a listen to their music, within seconds you are hooked onto their allure. Soft and charming, they are a must in your life.
And now onto the artists that made us hot under the collar, the people whose music holds a special something making them completely irresistible.

5. You Are Number 6: I fell in love with this band as soon as I heard them.Their music sounds like a new version of the 1970's/1980's tunes with an added ounce of electronic melodies.
4. Cannibal Animal: Thrashy, rocky and sometimes referred to as the pissed of Joy Division. These guys make the perfect tracks to rock out to.
3. Winter 1982: Beautiful acoustic melodies are produce by this folky duo. They are perfect to wind down to and perfect to simply live to.
2. Paper Penguin: This was the best way to open the new year, Paper Penguin strips down music to the magical experimental stage. The outcome? A consuming mixture of electronic tunes that transport you on your own journey through time.
1. Latenite Automatic: There is one sentence that sums him up: "This is what a band of vampires might sound like after they've been up all night snorting powdered blood and drinking aged hemoglobin". Latenite Automatics music is dark and addicting, overflowing with electronic layers and a voice similar to Trent Reznor.

The Everglows

Guess who's back? Thats right, our favourite trio has come back again with another 60's styled song to romance our ears. Have a look at our previous posts of The Everglows here and here.

Like their previous tracks, Amanita is fast paced, full of fuzz and holds onto those typical layered 60's vocals. Not only does it sound incredibly good, it's seriously catchy. The wistful, almost harmonic calling of 'Amanita' will not fail to get caught up in your minds.

2014

Mytacism Music has now been a thing for a whole 5 months now! So, to celebrate both this and the coming of a new year, I thought we should have a quick look at the best artists we have featured over this period.

10 - To kick things off we have Barry & Liebe. The duo create perfect acoustic melodies filled with emotion and passion which have the ability to relax and soothe.

9 - Next up is the energetic ska group Smiling Ivy. This is a band with the shocking ability to make anything sound good and lively.

8 - Dinosaur Crush have snagged 8th with their raucous, irresistible tunes which could start out a rock session anywhere.

7 - Now we have Hazels, the raw rock infused group who recently released 'This Ain't A Game', a song filled with persistent beats and vocals sounding like Franz Ferdinand.

6 - We are now graced with the presence of Deaf Poets, a band from Miami who produce deep, layered songs in their album '4150'

5 -  Marking the halfway point is The Everglows, a band constantly producing new fuzzy, 60's infused tracks which you can't help but fall in love with.

4 - Recently reviewed band The Vickers takes 4th with their kaleidoscopic album 'Ghosts'.

3 - A band full of talent is 3rd, Empire Affair, a band boasting infectious indie melodies in their EP 'Pangs'

2 - Today's Man very nearly came first with their insane psych/pop self-titled album, overflowing with electro, psychedelic, rock and pop sounds.

1 - Just stealing it from the previous band is Zibra, who easily deserve the spot of the best band on the site this year. They are simply irresistible with mind bending videos and drug like tunes.

The Everglows

With christmas fast approaching, I think it is necessary to blast the much loved christmas tunes once again. However, year after year the same tracks do get drab and repetitive so the odd cover will always add an extra lift to the famed tunes. So, as if by magic, The Everglows have provided the service this year with an excellent cover of 'Walking In The Air'. You may have seen our previous post on the band and may be aware of their fuzzy sound which makes them, well, them. It is with great pleasure that I can tell you that they have not left that behind for christmas and that it is ever present in the new release.

Now, do not be deterred by the song choice, The Everglows have completely nailed it. Well, for me anyway. They have changed the christmas classic from a choir boy symphony to a fuzzy rock tune, capable of being one to jam to. Not only does this allow the festive season to gain a harder feel through a new rock cover, bit it also allows you look uber cool while getting seriously festive. I especially love it because it sounds very similar yet completely different to the original all at the same time. The band have really taken the track and made their own while hanging on to what makes 'Walking In The Air' so special in the first place. I mean, this is what doing covers is all about, right?

The Everglows

The Everglows are a three piece band hailing from East London comprising of Andy Smith (guitar/vocals), Ray Brodrick (drums) and Steve Perkins (bass). The band have been influenced by sounds such as the 60's Mod, psychedelia and Britpop which is obvious when listening to some of their music.

One of the songs that has been recently added to their song book is 'Sugary Sun', a lively, fast paced track. With a rapid beat that never seems to stop and fuzzy guitar and vocal notes, 'Suary Sun' is a song you should take note of as it radiates groove and good vibes. The only downside to this track is the length, the experiance of the song is over within two and a half minutes.

Another track to listen to is 'That Other Girl', a slightly slower, clearer song. This track boasts repetitive and infectious guitar riffs and powerful vocals that proves the emotion in this song.

You can follow the band on Twitter, like their Facebook page or check out their YouTube channel for all of the bands updates and new music.
You can listen to their music on Soundcloud or visit their Bandcamp page.
